SPRING PICTURES!! Ludwig Photography will be taking spring pictures at Albany Elementary on Tuesday, March 16. All students will have their pictures taken. The following week, a picture proof will be sent home along with different background options for you to choose from. Parents can decide at that time if you wish to purchase the spring pictures. Spring pictures is a fundraiser event for our school. For every picture taken, the school will receive a $2.50 donation. Sight Words Your child will be bringing home their Unit 3 sight word list and sight word cards. Please help your child practice any words that they missed. Food Shelf Thank you for your food shelf donations. We will continue to collect items through the end of March. Boots Please encourage your child to continue to wear their boots outside. Some playground areas are quite muddy. It was so wonderful having students here the whole month of January! We were able to work so much harder and make great progress. We loved seeing and talking with each other the most! Now that we are able to play some games together, we are able to practice social skills as well!
This week there will be no spelling test and no speak up. Please continue to practice the sight words and sentences that come home each week (except this week). Next week is Snow Week. The student council has planned the following fun days: Feb. 16 Pajama/hat day Feb. 17 Jersey/sports theme Feb. 18 Favorite book/movie character Feb. 19 Purple pride Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, November 9 for teacher inservice time.
Please continue to practice the following math skills: number writing and identification Identifying and counting nickels and pennies simple addition and subtraction problems knowing numbers before or after a given one or two digit number Please continue to practice the following reading skills: letter identification, sound, and writing sounding out CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant, ex. bit, tap) rereading the paper books sent home each week I am amazed at how much progress each child has made already! Thank you for all of your additional support at home. Your children have worked so hard and continue to come to school with such a positive attitude. I am so happy to be their teacher this year! Today your child will be bringing home their single sound assessment and their sight word assessment. Please continue to work on any letter sounds or sight words that were missed.
Student Spirit Week: October 26-30th Monday: Pajama/Comfy Day Tuesday: Hat and Gum Day Wednesday: Color Day (Every grade wears a specific color) *Kinder = Red *1st = Orange *2nd = Yellow *3rd = Green *4th = Blue *5th = Purple Thursday: Wacky Hair/Silly Sock Day Friday: Bring your Halloween Costume to school and/or Purple Pride Day Halloween - Students will be allowed to bring costumes to school on October 30. We will not be allowing students to bring any treats from home (food or non-food items) to share. We will not be doing any parades through the school that day. The PTO will be providing a treat for all students that we will order through food service. *Just a reminder that Wednesday, October 14 is an "At Home Learning Day". I am sending home the work Tuesday. Please return the work on Monday.
*No Speak-up this week. *On Monday, October 19, the reading sheet will have spelling words. Spelling tests will take place on Fridays unless otherwise noted. This month we did a unit on rocks. We were able to collect rocks, sort them, record ourselves telling about our favorite one, and sifted sand in the sandbox outside. It was a fun unit! We will talk about fire safety the next couple of weeks since October is fire safety month. As a family discuss ways out of your house and a safe meeting place outside. The Student Council has selected the following days for spirit week. I have included a cover letter explaining what needs to be done and what needs to return. I appreciate your attention to this. I will be in meetings most of the day, but you can email me with any questions and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Please go to the school website to order a yearbook for your child if you choose. Look for the Josten’s order form under the Albany Elementary tab. Just a reminder to send back your Star of the Week poster when it is completed. I have seen quite an improvement in the students that have been practicing their counting with their hundreds chart! We are almost done with our alphabet review with letter recognition and sound. Please help your child continue to practice these good foundational skills as well. I appreciate all you do!! The first day of school was so much fun! I bet everyone will be tired tonight. The kids were troopers.
*Please check your child's purple Huskie take home folder daily for important information. If you need to send a note to school, please put it in this folder as I check them each morning. Please remind your child to bring this folder back and forth daily. *If your child has a change in his/her regular afternoon routine, please send a note or call the office. If you email, please email a couple of days in advance because I often don’t get to my email until after the school day is over. *Please note that we will not have snack time this year due to our lunch time. Free breakfast is available everyday starting at 7:45AM. *Every Friday is school spirit day! Dress in ‘Albany Huskies' clothes or purple & white. *The dairy allergy in our classroom is just for ingested dairy, so others in the class can have dairy products around this student. There is no longer an allergy to shellfish in our classroom. Have a wonderful night! I enjoyed my time back at school with your children! |
