Hello Families! I wanted to touch base with you before you pick up your child's lessons and iPads on Thursday. In their lockers you will find 2 folders. The first one, with a letter attached, is for the 1st 2 weeks of distance learning. It includes sheets for reading and math lessons as well as instructions. You will also find a second folder for weeks 3 and 4 if needed. I will be adding videos to your child's SeeSaw account to say hello, read stories, and give lessons or directions.
On my Weebly site you will find a new tab above titled Attendance. By clicking on that tab it will link you to the attendance form you will be filling out for your child daily by 9:00. I will then record their attendance for school. I hope you are all doing well. I miss your children so much! Never would I have imagined teaching without kids present. Below is a link to a video of all Albany Elementary staff giving messages to our students. https://youtu.be/nj3vfseWgCY Take care and contact me if you need anything! Fact Family Triangles were sent home yesterday with a note about how to use them. Please encourage your child to practice them daily to help memorize math facts.
Spring pictures will be taken on Wednesday, March 18. Proofs will go home afterwards so you can decide if you would like to order. Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, March 19 with your child. Spelling and speak up next week will be on Thursday, March 19 since there is no school on Friday, March 20 for teacher professional development. Rock Your Socks on Thursday, March 19th to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day! The actual event is taking place on 3/21 but since that is not a school day, we will do our own ROCK YOUR SOCKS on March 19th. Wear your craziest socks and show your support. Please remember the district guidelines state no birthday treats. Your child can bring their favorite book to read, a non-treat item, or choose free time for the class that day. In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday next week (March 2-6), your child may dress up in the following ways:
Monday: Fox in Sox- wear your silly socks Tuesday: Green Eggs and Ham-Wear Green Wednesday: Cat in the Hat-Wear Stripes Thursday: Cat in the Hat Comes Back-Wear a Hat Spring Photos: Ludwig has scheduled us for Wed March 18th, for Spring pictures. Envelopes will not go home prior to the picture date - instead all students will be photographed and Ludwig will then provide a proof and an envelope to send home for parents to order if they would like. Friday, February 21 we will be taking a field trip to the Albany Dental Clinic. This trip is covered under the in town field trips you signed for at the beginning of the year. We will only be there a short time, but we always see and learn a lot!
Thursday, February 27 is Black Out Day. Please remind your child wear any black or space related apparel for the I Love To Read theme. Encourage your child to continue reading each night. The only way to get points is to take AR tests or turn in full reading logs. We did many 100 activities to celebrate the 100th day of school. We read 100 books! We put together 100 piece puzzles. We sat in as many chairs as we could in 100 seconds. We made pictures of 100 things. What a great day!The theme for this year's I Love to Read Month is Galactic Adventures. Our class gets points for reading books. Reading totals will be words read from AR books or reading logs from students not in AR. Please encourage your child to read for at least 10 minutes everyday. Let the adventure begin!
Our reward for filling the Huskie House with Pawsitive Pride slips was to go sledding. I am so proud of how well our class works together and looks out for one another. We are working hard to continue getting Pawsitive Pride slips and fill the Huskie house again. We had so much fun! Look for more pictures of sledding on the photo tab
